Austin Buddhist Center Buddhist Studies Program

Austin Buddhist Center center will conduct its next Dhamma class for Children on March 14, 2010 at 3:30 pm.
Message from the Venerable Pundit Eluwapola Gnanarathana TheroDear Devotees 25th January 2010 is the one year anniversary of The Austin Buddhist Center Dhamma School. It is held every other Sunday, usually twice a month on Temple premises. Initially intended for all age of students aged under 18 we have seen an evolution with increased adult participation and discussion. In 2010 we have taken a new direction with one lesson of the month directed towards adults and older teenagers. The topics intended for this segment of the class curriculum are derived from the Sutta Pitaka of the Tri-Pitaka. Liberal discussion is encouraged. All discussions are held in English. For those lessons where Singhalese speaking monks are participating, English translation will be provided by the Dhamma School teachers. The students and teachers of the Austin Buddhist Center Dhamma School look forward to continuing a journey they have only just begun. May the blessings of the Noble Triple Gem be with you. Venerable Pundit Eluwapola Gnanarathana Thero. Viharadhipathi and President of the Austin Buddhist Center 24th January 2010 |
| “Man today had no peace,
his heart arid with pride he clamors for an ever increasing speed in a fury of chase, for objects that ceaselessly run, but never reach a meaning. And now is the time when he must Come groping at last to the sacred silence, which stands still in the midst of Surging centuries of noise, till he feels assured that in an immeasurable love dwells the final meaning of freedom, whose prayer is; Let Buddha be my refuge.” Rabindranath Tagore |
